The narrator choice works beautifully because it lets the tenderness stay slightly sideways, held unnamed until the end, when it is revealed through the object rather than explained. For a first fiction post, this has a lovely quiet confidence and an engine underneath that might even take the story further.

I had been framing it out in my head for a bit, when the idea came to write it from the perspective of the Turntable. I wasn’t sure of its genre or what it wanted to be until I started writing it, and apparently this is the form it ended up taking. I’m glad they resonated with you! I’ll likely start posting more fiction in the future as they come.
