I don’t know how much of this piece is fiction, but it reads with the texture of someone going through those days for real. There’s a strong piece of fiction taking shape here too, and I’d be very curious to see where it could go if you ever decided to push it further. I hope that lands the way I mean it: as genuine appreciation.

Hey I appreciate it! This is more CNF. All true, just written with a little dramatic flair. I still have the records, and I still from time to time sit on my porch and let one or two play. I don't write much fiction on KC, more personal essay and reflections. I'm really glad you liked it.

That makes perfect sense. I loved the image of you still sitting on the porch with those records from time to time. Thanks again for sharing it.

This is a beautiful piece. It has a centering quality to it. Sometimes the simple rituals are more healing than we give them credit.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I agree wholeheartedly. It’s nice to consciously appreciate the things we take as an excuse to slow down a bit and settle ourselves, or take a slice of time to just “be” in the moment.

I also accidentally turned my downstairs neighbor into an Odesza fan, so I’ll call that a win too lol

I imagine walking into your house after the apocalypse and finding a treasure trove of media, hunkering down and enjoying the end of days

And huge thanks for the heads up about the image, I think I got it

If I survive too I’ll definitely make us that French Toast!
